Function / Content

This series consists of applications for prospecting assistance including receipts for reimbursement of monies and expenditure as well as related correspondence. The applications are recorded on an Application and Agreement for Grant for Prospecting purposes form in which the applicant has requested Commonwealth assistance, primarily in the form of rations and tools. The application includes the suggested itinerary for planned activities and a full statement of anticipated costs and expenses. This applications have been signed by the applicant/s and the relevant administrator. The final part of this form is the receipt where, if successful, the applicant has acknowledged and signed that they have received a listed amount. The receipts included vary throughout the files but contain itemised lists of supplies purchased from various suppliers including the Harold Williams General Store, Scanlon and Barton, J Troy Butcher, the Tennant Creek Trading Company and Standley and Williams General Storekeepers. Also included is letters sent within the Mines Branch relating to the application/acquittal of the application.
